Faith and Politics: Debunking the Lie – Part II

We Do Declare

The Declaration of Independence at its outset has two appeals that mention God. One is in the first paragraph to which it states:

When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

In this they appeal to the right they have for the separation, namely that which is seen in nature and set about by God who is the power behind that nature.

The second mention comes very close thereafter:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

Again, God is invoked, this time as the Creator. God alone is presented as the progenitor of inalienable rights, not man or governments.  When looking at this, we immediately see the presuppositions that were brought to the table:

1. There was a God.

2. There was one God.

3. That man was created by God.

4. God was the source of liberty, the ability to pursue happiness, and life.

So, from the beginning, God was the one these men appealed to form their political system.  Furthermore, in the writing of the First Amendment, one of the rights that are protect

ed is that of religion:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exerc

ise thereof

It is therefore apparen

t that God and religion is a part of the political system in as much that the nation was founded on the appeal to God and that person cannot be compelled by the government or law to go against their conscience which is based on their faith.

Conscience and the Law

True faith is one that permeates the life and conscience of an individual. As it says in the Bible in the book of James 2:17:

Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

Faith, when it’s genuine, shapes the conscience of a person. Not only this but it shapes their whole worldview. So, when a law, policy, or edict is passed in the political realm that is anathema to their faith, it’s also anathema to their conscience. This will force them to take an opposite view or different take based on their conscience which is shaped by their faith.

False converts and secularist perpetuate the lie that the two can be separated because they don’t have true faith. Faith is not only a belief in God or whatever you believe in. True faith translates into living in accordance with that faith, not just saying you have it but living in the exact opposite way your faith espouses.

In addition, the Moral Law (which God created), put within everyone, is a law that innately tells us what’s right and wrong. Though some may not have faith in God, they may form their beliefs in accordance with the Moral Law.  This is then assimilated into their conscience as well. This explains how atheists can still do and believe things that are right.

So, any man or woman who is put in a political office will make, create, and support laws based on their conscience (or lack thereof) which is shaped by their faith whether that faith involves God or not. As such, politically, it’s impossible to abandon and separate your faith from your politics. They are inextricably tied together.

There are a lot of people across the United States unsatisfied with the direction the country is going and rightly so. We are in the midst of a socialist regime that seeks to change the very foundations of which this nation was founded. This philosophy, when administrated as a government mandate, suppresses freedom, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

This is not the fault of one man who is just a figurehead for all that is going wrong in this nation. It is an administration that seeks to polarize and demonize those who don’t hold their views, vilifying them for their belief in God and adhering to the Judeo-Christian values and principles that this nation was founded on (see the David Barton video on the Founders).

While this is all going on, we should really be grateful.

Minority Majority

In the Bible in Luke 17:11-19, there’s a story about Jesus healing ten lepers. He told them to show themselves to the priests and in faith, they got up and went, being healed on the way. Of the ten only one went back and thanked Jesus and a foreigner at that, not a Jew. Ten were blessed but only one was grateful and this gratefulness led to an even greater blessing, the salvation of his soul.

Subtle Narcissism

I have a lot of conservative associates who have the mentality of those nine lepers. They know where their blessings come from but they’re ungrateful for them.

They cry incessantly about the state of the country yet never thanking the Lord in their rants that they’re able to speak and proclaim the truth.

They vilify liberals with some of the most horrid expressions not once thinking about how this reflects on the One who gave them a voice, life, and breath.

They look at the government as the ultimate evil and are oblivious to the true enemy behind it all.

The reason? It’s all about them. They wrap it in descriptions like truth, liberty, freedom, the Constitution. But when you look closely through the malaise of verbal gyrations, it’s really all about them.

Not One Day

This is not to say to be silent, stand down, say, and do nothing. God forbid. However, it is to say that we should be grateful for so much from the Provider of all things. We should be grateful for being chosen to stand for Truth. We should be grateful that He uses us one more day. We should be grateful that we still have the freedom that many don’t have like brothers and sisters in churches all over the world who are persecuted for their faith. We should be grateful we can walk, talk, type, breathe, and exist.

Don’t let a day go by where we don’t thank the Lord.

Preach Truth. Stand tall. Be obedient. Express gratefulness. Worship the Lord.

Health Care Passed. God Is Still Sovereign.

One question that’s echoing throughout the country today is, “How did this happen?” An atrocious health care bill passed through the senate on Monday making it one of the most invasive bills ever, taking away the rights of so many American people. It is a blanket move for government to take control of just about every area of an American citizen’s life.

Some are elated. Now their fears can be assuaged. They no longer have to wonder what they’re going to do. Uncle Obama, aunt Pelosi, and Cousin Reid, among others, has supposedly come to their rescue once again in getting them something for nothing.

Others have another kind of fear. Fear that it’s the end of the United States as we’ve known it. To them, the president is an anti-Christian, Muslim terrorist in disguise and the United States is doomed from now until Kingdom come.

Both attitudes are wrong.

A Closer Look

As we speak, lawsuits are being filed all over the nation challenging the constitutionality of various portions of the bill with the biggest one being forcing health care on people that don’t want it and fining or imprisoning them for not taking it.

In addition, there’s time to stop it and republicans like John McCain are calling for a repeal just as it comes out the oven. Plus the agencies charged with enforcing the bill have no funding. So if people refused to take this health care, trying to pick up those fines would be near nigh impossible.

I want to say to all of my conservative brothers and sisters, that’s not reason enough to give us any kind of hope.

He’s Still In Charge

Throughout all of the hoopla, anxiety, and trepidation, one thing has remained constant: God is still running things.

Understand: God is not surprised. As the Joker says in the movie Dark Knight, “It’s all part of the plan.” God rules and reigns over everything. He controls the outcome. Some have an erroneous and straight up wrong view that God is in support of this because it passed. That couldn’t be further from the truth.

God only directly supports those things which agree with His word. The Bible is rife with kings that were evil: Ahab, Ahaz, Manasseh, Jeroboam, Nadab, and others. God did not condone their evil reigns, but allowed it under His sovereign hand (Proverbs 21:1). Taking the freedom He gave to oppress people, either a little or much, is not in His will (Proverbs 16:12). It’s because of man’s evil and the acceptance of it that we’re where we’re at today. Yet, God is still in control. That should make us smile and give us strength as a people for our next move.

What Now?

So, even though God is in control, do we have a fatalist attitude and just say, “Well, things are just going to be how they’re going to be?” No. We still live in a republic. We still can vote people out. We still can work for a better future. Setbacks are just that. They’re not written forever. That belongs unto God. We serve Him. In serving Him, we should serve others through education, motivation, sincerity, and truth.

Politicians are human and therefore finite. This health care bill passing is temporary and it’s not the end. We know the end because we know Him. We can smile today in true hope and know that since God is ultimately in control, He won’t leave or forsake us, no matter what.

A Call For Common Sense

In 1776, Thomas Paine wrote what is arguably one of the United States most influential treatise on the reason why it should be a sovereign nation. It was called Common Sense and it should over 120,000 copies in three months with estimates close to half a million for that year. And this is without cars, trucks, or the internet.

It’s no doubt that today our nation is in a crisis. Economic. Cultural. Moral. The voice of truth needs to ring out like Thomas Paine and others.

I saw this video a while back and it is truly powerful. It’s a must see and a must listen for anyone who is serious about being a citizen of the United States. We have to understand what is going on in this nation and not sit by idly giving excuses on why we won’t speak out for the cause of what is right. As a Christian, it’s our duty.

My hope that as you listen that it will stir your heart to action and that you would pray to the Lord about what you can do as a Christian first, and as a citizen of this great nation called the United States of America.

Our Christian Heritage – George Washington

General in the American Revolution, chairman of the Constitutional Convention, a Founding Father, and the first president of the United States (recently voted the the number three president of all time by historians), George Washington is undoubtedly one of the most influential persons in American history.

Described as “First in war, first in peace, first in the hearts of his countrymen”, George Washington was an active Episcopalian and a firm believer of God and the Bible. His enemies even noticed something special about him. A famous Indian warrior is quoted to have said:

Washington was never born to be killed by a bullet. I had seventeen fair fires at him with my rifle and after all could not bring him to the ground.

Henry Muhlenberg, one of the founders of the Lutheran Church in America, noted concerning Washington:

I heard a fine example today, namely, that his excellency George Washington rode around among his army yesterday and admonished each and every one to fear God , to put away the wickedness that has set in and become so general, and to practice Christian virtues.

Washington is known for his famous quote:

It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible.

John Marshall, chief justice of the Supreme Court who served with Washington in the Revolutionary War, said of him:

Without making ostentatious professions of religion, he was a sincere believer in the Christian faith and a truly devout man.

On October 9th, 1789, Washington wrote to the Synod of the Dutch Reformed Churches in North America:

While just government protects all in their religious rights, true religion affords to government its surest support.

Washington said while addressing the general committee representing the United Baptist Churches of Virginia on May 10th, 1789:


If I could have entertained the slightest apprehension that the Constitution framed by the Convention, where I had the honor to preside, might possibly endanger the religious rights of any ecclesiastical society, certainly I would have never placed my signature on it.

In Washington’s farewell speech, he spoke these prophetic words:

And of a fatal tendency…to put in place of the delegated will of the nation, the will of a party; – often a small but artful and enterprising minority….they are likely, in the course of time and things, to become potent engines by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government; destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion..

Stimulus Package: Anti-Faith, Unconstitutional

I wish that were a misprint.

The fact of the matter that there is language in the Obama stimulus package that is patently discriminatory against religious faiths. This really should come as no surprise given that liberalism is anti-Christ and anti-religion. It’s a humanist philosophy.

Specifically, pages 164-165 of the stimulus bill says this:

(2) PROHIBITED USES OF FUNDS. No funds awarded under this section may be used for – (C) modernization, renovation, or repair of facilities (i) used for sectarian instruction, religious worship, or a school or department of divinity; or (ii) in which a substantial portion of the functions of the facilities are subsumed in a religious mission; or construction of new facilities.

The funds referred to are $3.5 billion dollars which is to go to public and private colleges and universities.

What many may be saying is why should they? Isn’t that a promotion of a religion? No it isn’t. It’s actually unconstitutional.

In the 2001 Good News Club v. Milford Central School Supreme Court decision, the court ruled that restricting religious speech within the context of public shared-use facilities (or schools) is unconstitutional. By allowing funds to be parsed out ad hoc based on whether a public building is used for religious activities is discriminatory and goes against the 1st Amendment, which states:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

This would in effect bar use of campus buildings for groups like Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Campus Crusade for Christ, Catholic Student Ministries, Hillel and other religious organizations.

Senator Jim DeMint said, after a 43-54 defeat of his amendment to that language, “This is a direct attack on students of faith, and I’m outraged Democrats are using an economic stimulus bill to promote discrimination. This is now an ACLU stimulus designed to trigger lawsuits designed to intimidate religious organizations across the nation. This language is so vague, it’s not clear if students can even pray in a dorm room renovated with this funding since that is a form of ‘religious worship.’ If this provision remains in the bill, it will have a chilling effect on students of faith in America”

The solution is quite simple. It’s time to make our voices heard.

Start writing emails and making phone calls to your senators today. If you’re not sure who they are, you can go to www.votesmart.org and look at your particular state to see who your senator is if you don’t know. Write AND call them. The number to call is 202-224-2131. Tell them to change this language immediately and to scrap this bill altogether. Let your voice be heard in support of the Constitution and freedom everywhere.

Obama’s Fat Lady Ain’t Sung

Since the 2000 presidential election we have seen litigation and investigations follow soon after any election. Usually this is related to some kind of voter fraud. But there are several cases which are catching momentum in the news about the legitimacy of Obama’s citizenship.

And The Hits Keep On Comin

Last week I encouraged people to go to ObamaCrimes.com and check out the case against Barack Obama. In a nutshell, Mr. Phillip J. Berg, a University of Toledo graduate (which is where I currently reside) has filed suit against Obama that is questioning the legitimacy of Obama’s citizenship. The ironic thing about the Berg case is that he’s been a lifelong Democrat.

Now, there are several cases pending asking the same thing, including one from the United States Justice Foundation on behalf of the American Independent Party and their presidential candidate Alan Keyes, along with Wiley S. Drake and Markham Robinson, both California electors.

Then there’s a similar case in Hawaii from Andy Martin, an Obama critic, which he’s trying to get the Hawaiian Department of Health to release those records which they are refusing to hand over. They’re stating that privacy statues prevents them from so doing if the entity involved does not have a “direct tangible interest” as laid out by state statute.

More than a few cases have shown up in the courts all around the country in Ohio, Connecticut, Georgia, and Washington, all which have been dismissed. Another in New Jersey was also dismissed but is still pending an emergency stay of application which the attorney, Leo C. Donofrio, is appealing to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. Many unconfirmed cases are said to be popping up all over the place: Utah, Wyoming, Texas, North Carolina, Texas, and Virginia.

Now there’s another online petition that is asking for the public’s help in discovering Obama’s citizenship and therefore his right to be president of the United States.

It’s a dog eat dog world out there and now this thing is starting to grow some teeth.

Oh, That Paradise Hawaii

The Obama birth certificate is said to have been released online. Just a couple problems with that:

1. According to the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands, there is a difference between the two documents. A certification of live birth is not an authentication of Hawaiian birth. Specifically they state:


In order to process your application, DHHL utilizes information that is found only on the original Certificate of Live Birth, which is either black or green. This is a more complete record of your birth than the Certification of Live Birth (a computer-generated printout). Submitting the original Certificate of Live Birth will save you time and money since the computer-generated Certification requires additional verification by DHHL.


2. Obama’s half sister, Maya Sotero, has named two different hospitals where he was supposedly born.

3. Obama’s grandmother stated in a YouTube video that she witnessed his birth in Kenya.

To say that something is off is an understatement.

What Is The Big Deal?

Here’s the number one question I have about the whole endeavor: why hasn’t the certificate been released by Obama? If everything is on the up and up, it should be no problem to produce it and move into the White House. It would also show that he has a slice of integrity. Lastly, he could just put to rest all of this buzz. If someone were to ask me for my birth certificate, I wouldn’t have a problem with giving it up. If they were enemies, I’d put that monster to bed immediately.

No so for the O.

When investigators were sent to the two hospitals to check out the claims made, they were met by sheriff’s deputies.

An Obama spokesperson had no idea why he hadn’t released it.

“I have no idea. I think they released what they chose to release, and Hawaii has confirmed that he was born in Hawaii, so I don’t know what else you want.”

What they chose to release? What the heck does that mean?

It means something smells funny and I ain’t talkin ’bout roses.
