Three out of four Americans say they believe in God with the vast majority identifying themselves as Christian. However, the country is highly divided, the 2008 presidential election resulting in a near 50/50 split. Tempers have flared amidst a plethora of T.E.A. parties, town hall meetings, and media wrangling that’s unprecedented.

One of the main and least repeated facts concerning the ideological war between conservatism and liberalism is God’s influence in shaping each worldview.

According to Barna Research:

Six out of ten conservatives say their faith is becoming an increasingly important moral guide compared to just three out of ten for liberals.

Liberalism has almost six times as many atheists, agnostics, and general unbelievers than conservatives.

63% of conservatives believe the Bible to be accurate in the tenets it teaches to just 27% of liberals.

63% of conservatives were categorized as “born again” versus 32% of liberals.

Conservatives are seven times more likely than liberals to identify themselves as evangelical Christians.

Politics is a smokescreen in the battle between conservatism and liberalism. It’s not about politics. It’s about God.

As one of those conservative Christians, this doesn’t come as a surprise since the Bible speaks specifically about this coming down the pike:

This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. (2 Timothy 3:1-5)

When we look at the ideology of liberalism which supports such positions as abortion, euthanasia, and homosexuality, only two things can happen. You have to redefine and reinterpret the Bible so that it supports your position and therefore creating God in the image you want Him to be, or get rid of the Bible and God altogether, therefore strengthening the evil positions the philosophy is steeped in. Liberals have tried to do both and continue to do so with more of the latter.

I have said this before and I will say it again: there is no way you can be a true Christian and a true liberal. Not possible. Never gonna happen. Liberalism is anathema to the Christian worldview. Always has been, always will be.

So don’t be fooled by those who profess to be a liberal and a Christian. Challenge them with the truth of the scriptures. That will always be the litmus test of where they stand in the grand scheme of things.

Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. (1 John 4:1a,2-3)

On Wednesday, April 29th, this image will be unveiled at the New York’s Union Square. It speaks for itself. The artists purports he just wants dialogue and it’s not portraying him as the Christ.

Not everyone was born yesterday.

It is the kind of blasphemy that those in this country perpetrate more and more as we see The Day approaching. It shouldn’t come as a surprise really.

I find this quite ironic after the Obama administration asked Georgetown University to take down all religious symbols before he would make his speech which Georgetown complied with. If someone were to come into my house and tell me to take down all of my religious symbols, I’d simply tell them they’re not coming in my house.

FOLLOWING CHRIST IS NOT POPULAR

Many have the wrong idea about following the Lord. They believe by doing so, we just become nicer people and in turn, everyone will like us and be drawn to us. In a sense, we should become nicer because we are learning how to love:

But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you… (Luke 6:27)

Even when we do this, there will be those that hate us as that statement implies. This is a reflection of the total destructiveness of sin.

But another reality of the Christian is that as we get closer to God and walk more in the Spirit, the more those of the world will hate us.

If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. (John 15:18)

Yes. Being a Christian should make us more loving. But it also doesn’t preclude us from standing for the truth. This is why the world hates us. We stand for truth as the light of the world and through that, the world stands condemned.

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. (Matthew 5:14-16)

And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. (John 3:19)

SHOUT IT FROM THE ROOF

No matter what the world says or does, we should continue to spread the Truth in all its forms. That Truth is the word of God which testifies of Jesus Christ.

What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops. (Matthew 10:27)

Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. (John 17:17)

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:6)

What we do is not about being popular, being liked, or even being nice. It’s about being light.

Caroline Petrie is facing disciplinary action because her employer, North Somerset Primary Care Trust, stated that she failed to show “personal and professional commitment to equality and diversity’ when she offered to pray for an elderly woman.

Petrie has stated that she doesn’t proselytize when she’s on the job.

“I simply couldn’t believe that I have been suspended over this,” she told the London Telegraph. “I knew I hadn’t done anything wrong. All I am trying to do is help my patients, many of whom want me to pray for them.”

The woman was reportedly not offended. It had taken her by surprise and she was concerned it would offend others.

However, this was not the only time that Petrie had been disciplined for offering a prayer. She had offered a prayer card to an elderly male patient two months previous who had accepted it gladly. However, the caretaker of the man was not in support of the move.

“My concern is for the person as a whole, not just their health,” she said. “I was told not to force my faith on anyone but I could respond if patients themselves brought up the subject [of religion].”

Petrie has contacted the Christian Legal Centre for representation, an organization that seeks to promote religious freedom.

“Caroline Petrie has been suspended pending an investigation into the matter,” a spokesman for North Somerset Primary Care Trust told the Guardian. “She is a bank nurse and she has been told we will not be using her in this capacity until the outcome of our investigation is known”

“We always take any concerns raised by our patients most seriously and conscientiously investigate any matter of this nature brought to our attention, the spokesman continued. “We are always keen to be respectful of our patients’ views and sensitivity as well as those of our staff.”
